Distribution board
A distribution board (or DB) is used to distribute and protect electrical circuits within the electrical system of a building, factory, or specific area.
As the final stage electrical panel, it receives power from the main distribution board (MDB) and then distributes electricity to small to medium loads such as: sockets, lighting, individual air conditioners, fans, pumps, and various office/floor areas.
Features
- Powering individual production lines or production machinery assemblies
- Dividing the electrical current into multiple load branches (lighting, sockets, power, HVAC, etc.)
- Circuits are protected from overload and short circuits using circuit breakers (MCB, MCCB)
- Fault isolation: if a branch experiences a fault, the control panel helps to isolate that circuit without affecting the entire system
